8 Christian Books You Should Read

May 29, 2020 Leave a Comment

Must Read Christian Books

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I love to read. I am a pretty simple book worm. Typically, you can find me reading fun books that take me away from reality for a while. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, I read a lot of young adult books and I am a sucker for a romance. But as I get older I’ve realized that as much as I enjoy “fun” reads I also NEED to make sure that I am filling my cup from books that will give me more. With every “fun” book I read I try to also read a book that will help me grow as a mother and as a Christian. I think it is important to have that balance. So, if you are looking for books that will help you grow your faith and relationship with God check out the list below.

It's Not Supposed to be this Way

It’s Not Supposed to be this Way – Lisa TerKeurst

This book is such a great read. It’s a great book to help through trying times when we want to question God’s plan and will on our lives. It serves as a great reminder to not be suspicious of God when we are overwhelmed but instead to turn to Him and trust Him.

A Praying Life

A Praying Life – Paul E. Miller

If you feel like your prayer life could use some help get this book! I turned to this book during a time when I really needed to put my trust in God and just grow closer with him. But I didn’t know where to start and this book was a great way to figure that out.

Present Over Perfect

Present Over Perfect – Shauna Niequist

This book is definitely a must read for any Christians struggling to have a “perfect” life. We all deal with it, with social media and the things we see every day. This book is a great resource for learning how to be present each day in the midst of our messy and ordinary lives.

Relationship Goals

Relationship Goals – Michael Todd

I am a huge Michael Todd fan and was so excited when this book was released. It is perfect for you if you have ANY relationships in your life. So basically anyone. It is filled with how important relationships are and how to make them better. And of course it talks about our most important relationship, the one we share with God.

Beholding and Becoming

Beholding and Becoming – Ruth Chou Simmons

This book is probably my favorite on this list. Mainly because there is just so much goodness in this book and it is one that I can go back to as regularly as I need, even if it is just to read a chapter. It it a great reminder of how we can worship God in so many little ways throughout our day. It really shifts your mindset about the mundane daily activities we face.

Uninvited

Uninvited – Lysa TerKeurst

This book was one I read at the most perfect time. I love it when I find a book that speaks right into my current season. I was in a season where I felt so much rejection, loneliness and like I wasn’t enough. This book was just what I needed to remember that those feelings came from the enemy. And that leaning on God during that time would make all the difference.

Get Out of Your Head

Get Out of Your Head – Jennie Allen

My own thoughts are constantly getting in the way. I struggle with getting out of my own head and making sure my thoughts are aligned with God’s word. If this is something you experience then you should definitely check this one out.

Rhythms of Renewal

Rhythms of Renewal – Rebekah Lyons

This book is all about emotional and mental health. I deal with anxiety on occasion and this book is so great for learning how to overcome it and find joy in each day. This is a great read for anyone dealing with panic attacks, anxiety, depression or loneliness. So even if it isn’t for you it would make a great gift for a loved one.

Those are my 8 christian book recommendations. There is a great variety here and a book for everyone. No matter what season you are facing there is something here for you and I hope one of these books can help! I would love to know what you think of this list, if you’ve ever read any of these or if you have a christian book you would recommend!
