We love to celebrate different holidays! And I try to always keep it fun for my kids by doing different activities. Valentine’s day is an especially fun one for us. We love to bake, and craft, and spread love. I personally love to start doing different activities for Valentine’s Day as soon as February hits. This way we have plenty of time to get everything we have planned done.
So, if you are looking for some new ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your kiddos here are some fun Valentine’s Day activities you can try.
We love to bake, and I think cupcakes are definitely a favorite for my girls. There are so many options when you go shopping, especially if you are in a store that has a Valentine’s Day section. I like to grab different types of decorations, icing and sprinkles. The girls help me make the cupcake batter and scoop it into the pan. And once they are cooled off they help with their favorite part, decorating!
And if you don’t want too many sweets in the house- give some of them away to friends, co-workers, or have the kids take some to school for their friends.
Don’t like Cupcakes? Bake Cookies!
This is one of our favorite Valentine’s day activities because its more baking! We love to bake. Sugar cookies are super fun, my girls love to cut them out themselves and decorate the cooled down cookies. This is also another great opportunity to make something with your children that they can give away to others.
Make a Rag Wreath
This is definitely something we will be doing this year. I love hadmade wreaths and making things that can also be used as decor around our house. Rag wreaths are great because your little ones can help tie the pieces of fabric with you, making it go a lot faster. Just make sure all the pieces are cut and ready to go and then you can all tie them together. This is a perfect way to sit down and talk about Valentine’s day and the different ways to show others that you love them.
Make Handmade Cards
I love to craft with my girls, and we especially love making things for others. Instead of going to the store to purchase Valentine’s Day cards, make them instead! It’s a great way to spend time together and give something unique and from the heart to others. There are so many different ways to go about this, you can do something super simple or get really fancy with it. Either way, your kids will love making them and giving them away!
Do a Valentine’s Day Countdown
This is something I started with my girls last year and plan to do again this year. I like to make it all about God and how much He loves us. So each day, they get to open a card (Starting on January 31st or February 1st) and inside there is a bible verse about God’s love and a piece of chocolate. This is a great way to bring God into Valentine’s day with your children and a fun activity for them to look forward to.
I hope these ideas help you with different ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your little ones. You can do all of these activities or just one of them and that is quality time spent together. Always a win in my book! I’d love to hear about any traditions your family already has for Valentine’s Day, or if you tried out any of these activities!
